The Department of Mechanical Engineering offers comprehensive education for Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering which attracts highly meritorious students.
The highly dedicated and qualified faculty keeps the academics and research activities of the department in high spirits. The mix of well experienced and young dynamic faculty molds the students as industry ready Mechanical Engineers and as better human being.
The average experience of the faculty is 11 years.
Faculty are involved in consultancy projects with industries and research projects funded by government .
Invited lectures and value added courses offered by industry personnel on recent trends to bridge the gap between academia and industry practices.
Faculty and students industrial visits, compulsory in-plants trainings and internships during end semester vacations.
To reinforce learning, the students undergo projects on their own in every semester. Such projects are demonstrated to industry community during industry-academia conclave.
Encourage students to attend symposiums, workshops and events conducted by institutions like NITs, IITs and other reputed institutions. The students are also actively participating in various industry led technical competitions.
Students are motivated to write and publish research articles in reputed Journals along with their faculty supervisors.

The Electronics and Communication engineering professionals graduating from our department will be able to:
Engineering knowledge: Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems.

A Guest Lecture on "Industrial Applications of CAD" by TAFE was held on 15th October 2018
A Guest Lecture on "Industrial Applications of CAD" by TAFE was held on
15th October 2018. The session was handled by Mr.Deepak M, HR, TAFE
Chennai along with Mr. Jesudoss A S - Project Manager CAD, TAFE-Chennai.
Students of I and III year Mechanical Engineering attended the session.
The main objective of the campus connect
Mechanical Engineering students team Velocity Racing, consisting of 35 students,
26 from Mechanical and 9 from the Electrical department participated in
the 3rd Formula Green held in Kari Motor Speedway, Coimbatore representing
PSG Institute of Technology and Applied Research.
The All-India Level competition was held from 12th February to 16th February.
Electric Kart (EKGDC) Vehicle by Mechanical & EEE students 2018
The Students Team Velocita Racing (kart team) compromising of 25 students from
both Mechanical and Electrical Disciplines have involved in designing and
fabricating a E-Kart to compete in the event of E-GKDC (Electric Go Kart Design Challenge)
organized by ISNEE. The team was subdivided into various Subsystems namely the Design,
Steering, Brakes, Electrical, Transmission and Managing Team.

Industry Academia Conclave 2016 for the Mechanical Stream was held on 20th February 2016 (Saturday) at E4 Seminar Hall, PSGiTech. "Industrial Visit" to Ashok Leyland Plant II ,Hosur by III Year Mechanical Engineering department students on 31.07.2016
We the batch of 51 students started with the learning centre. They explained about their history of the company and the facilities in the Hosur plant. Ashok leyland got the ISO: 9001 certification on 1994 and in 2002 they got the ISO: 14000 certificationfor environment management system. Ashok leyland supplies the 80% of the vehicle to the Indian army.

A one day "Industrial Visit" was arranged to TVS Motor Company, Hosur for I Year Mechanical Engineering department students on 05.03.2016. Total of 51 students and 2 teaching and one non-teaching faculty accompanied the students. The visit inside the Company was guided by Mr. Mukesh Krishna (HR) of TVS Motor Company, Hosur.
