Curriculum Planning

  • PSG iTech is affiliated to Anna University and it offers 7 undergraduate and 2 postgraduate programmes in Engineering and Technology. From 2017, Anna University has implemented Choice Based Credit System in curriculum.
  • The course willingness is received from the faculty and courses are allotted for each semester to the faculty by the respective HoD’s of the departments. The class time table and individual faculty time table are released by the time-table co-ordinators.

Curriculum Delivery & Monitoring

  • Each faculty member designs comprehensive course plan for theory and laboratory based on credit specified in the syllabus.
  • Faculty member prepares course file containing academic schedule, timetable, course plan & materials and previous year question papers. Course Outcomes (COs) are validated by mapping against Programme Outcomes (POs) after each CIA.
  • HoD’s and Principal regularly monitor the delivery of the course. Formal feedbacks are received from the students to assess the course delivery and syllabus completion. The Class Committee meetings are arranged where the student representatives can express their difficulties in academic and administrative areas.

Academic Calendar

Academic Calendar for the Institution is prepared based on the University Academic Calendar. It is authorized by the Principal and distributed to all the Departments and students, as well as posted on the Institution's website for information and compliance. The following activities are scheduled chronologically in the academic calendar, semester-wise for seniors & first years.

Internal Assessment

  • Internal marks are awarded to the students based on the marks scored in the internal assessment tests conducted by the exam cell. The schedule of internal test is intimated to the students through student group mail.

  • The course faculty prepares the question papers and submits to the HOD for approval. After approval by HoD, it is submitted to the Exam cell.

  • After examination, answer scripts of each CIA is evaluated and distributed within a week for verification of marks. The results of the internal tests are uploaded in the affiliating university web portal as per University schedule.
Student Development Activities
  • The department organizes association meetings, workshops, guest lectures, conferences and symposiums to enhance organizing skills, team work and leadership quality of the students.

  • The institution and department organizes various events to improve the student’s employability skills such as soft skills, communication skills, programming skills, industrial visits, industrial training, internship and placement training programs including counseling.

  • The institution also encourages extracurricular, sports, cultural events and societal developmental activities. Important days like Independence Day, Republic Day, Engineers Day, Teachers Day, Women’s day and other festivals are celebrated in the campus.
Crosscutting Issues
  • PSG iTech adopting the Anna University curriculum has taken many initiatives to provide platform to integrate cross-cutting issues relevant to Professional Ethics and Human Values, Gender, Environment and Sustainability in the curriculum.

Professional Ethics and Human Values
  • In accordance with University curriculum, PSG iTech offers ‘Professional Ethics and Human Values’ to prepare students for practicing ethics and inculcate value system in handling their personal and professional domains of life.
  • Practicing mutual respect, tolerance and fairness in dealing with others are encouraged to sustain and grow in modern environment & society.
  • Every year, during the first year Student Induction Programme, all the first year students undertake the Universal Human Values module as prescribed by AICTE. PSG iTech gives importance on strengthening inner ability of students through soft skills training. Various club activities like NSS, ECO Club, Harmony Club, Rotract Club enable the students to exhibit the humanness.
  • Yoga classes enable our students to improve their physical fitness and self-confidence in achieving inner peace and mindfulness.

Gender Sensitization
  • PSG iTech is a co-educational institute and measures are taken towards gender sensitization in terms of equality for both the genders in all aspects.
  • Gender equity is practiced in the Institution in all its activities including recruitment of staff, students’ admission, allotting them in laboratory batches, project team, cultural activities, sports, association activities, etc.
  • Students are encouraged to co-work with other gender in all the above activities thus removing any barrier between them and create friendly existence.
  • In addition, office bearers of associations, class representatives and club coordinators’ positions are shared equally among boys and girls.
  • Women Empowerment Cell consisting senior female members of PSG iTech conducts various awareness programs and ensures grievances of girl students are addressed in time.

Environment and Sustainability
  • Environment study is a part of the curriculum and PSG iTech enlarges the knowledge of students on sustaining, improving and preserving the environment through various practices and programs to maintain natural world.
  • Through extension activities like NSS/ ECO Club, tree plantation, rain water harvesting, maintaining cleanliness & hygiene are done in nearby areas and schools. Posters, talks, seminars and rallies are used to promote awareness among public to protect our environment and maintain ecological balance.
  • Clean India-Swachh Bharat Campaign enables our students to have a chance to interact with local people and understand their socio-economic background to device ways to maintain cleanliness in neighborhood.
  • Through Unnat Bharath Abhiyan scheme, students have adopted five nearby remote villages and conducted household survey. Students educated villagers on adopting new technologies, plastic-free environment and pandemic management.
  • Rain water harvesting project is done in campus to recharge bore wells. Many environment related projects on climate change, water/air pollution, sewage treatment, green concrete, energy conservation and management are undertaken by our students.
